When it comes to finding sustainable construction solutions, floor slabs are a key challenge. Arched and vaulted geometries offer truly disruptive savings by enabling the use of low-carbon materials in much lower volume than before.

h2. The Rippmann Floor System

Inspired by the Gothic cathedrals of the past, our flagship product, the Rippmann Floor System (RFS), is a prefabricated, unreinforced concrete floor system built on more than 15 years of research at ETH Zurich.

Conventional concrete floor slabs achieve structural strength through the use of large amounts of material. It is a "brute force" solution. The RFS follows a different principle. It replaces mass with optimised geometry.

Similar to an ancient stone vault, its arched form carries forces through compression, a state that concrete naturally handles well. This eliminates the need for embedded steel reinforcement and allows the system to achieve equal or better performance with a fraction of the material.

h2. Adjustable performance,practical by design

The Rippmann Floor System is designed to adapt to a wide range of structural requirements and project specifications. This flexibility depends on more than the geometry itself: each floor must be translated into a buildable, compliant, and installable structural system.

Vaulted’s unique capability lies in making this translation practical. Through our proprietary digital platform, complex arched geometry becomes possible to design, produce, transport, and integrate into real construction projects.

h2. Sustainable structure

By using geometry to carry loads more efficiently, the RFS requires significantly less material than conventional concrete floor systems. This can reduce embodied carbon emissions by up to 75%.

Additionally, by keeping materials separate and facilitating reuse and recycling, it is an entirely circular solution. When a building reaches the end of its life, RFS elements can be disassembled and reused in new projects rather than being demolished and discarded. A floor installed today can become a new RFS floor in a different building in the future.

Retrofit and extension of 33 Cavendish Square, that will transform the building and rejuvenate Oxford Street.

Located in London's West End, 33 Cavendish Square redevelops a former flagship retail building into a mixed-use destination with office, retail, cultural, and event spaces.

The project follows a retrofit-first approach, retaining more than half of the existing structure while upgrading the building for future use.

With 18000 m² of RFS-F, the project leverages Vaulted's unique advantage: a lightweight floor system that expands what is structurally possible in an existing building, while combining low-carbon innovation with the transformation of one of London's most prominent urban districts.

HiLo Research Unit at NEST

HiLo is a research and innovation unit on the NEST platform at Empa in Dübendorf, Switzerland.

Designed as a flexible multi-storey workspace, the project demonstrates how digital construction, lightweight concrete structures, and integrated building systems can reduce material use, embodied carbon, and operational energy.

With 50 m² of RFS-D, HiLo represents the research foundation behind Vaulted's commercial floor system, proving how geometry can replace mass in a real building environment.

The project also strengthens Vaulted's credibility as a Swiss innovation story, with the NEST platform now selected as a motif for the future CHF 20 banknote of the Swiss National Bank.

10-storey office building in Zug, Switzerland

The CreaTower I is a 40-meter office high-rise currently under construction in the Tech Cluster Zug. The project is currently in progress, with an expected completion timeframe of 2023/2028.

The 180 RFS bays drastically reduce mass and achieve a 50% saving in CO2 emissions compared to traditional slabs.

We worked directly with the entire design team to optimise the RFS for this high-end project and meet all the acoustics, fire, and vibration requirements while contributing to the striking aesthetic of the building both inside and outside.
